Chapter 60 is the name for Hawaii's proposed Administrative Rules regarding special education and related services which are in compliance with the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act, last revised in December 2004.

Since the Hawaii Department of Education first developed draft adminisrative rules in May 2007, Chapter 60 has undergone a lengthy drafting process that ended with the final approval of the rules on September 17, 2009.

The NEXT STEPS in the process will include:

• signature by the Governor;
• posting of the rules on the Board of Education website
• finalization of guidelines
• community training - dates to be announced
